Angela Christian (The Woman in White, Thoroughly Modern Millie) will star as the famed writer of the title in Anais Nin--One of Her Lives. The show will begin previews on August 3rd and open on August 5th at the Beckett Theatre (410 W. 42nd St.) at Theatre Row. It will run through August 26th.
Anais Nin--One of Her Lives is written and directed by Wendy Beckett. "Anais Nin was a significant, yet nonconforming, poet and writer. She came to be something of a cult figure in the early feminist movement, and in erotica, but gradually rose to fame and distinction in literary circles," state press notes on the show, which will be presented by the Australian-based Pascal Productions.
The production will also star David Bishins (Sympathetic Magic at Second Stage) as Henry Miller, Alysia Reiner (the film Sideways) as June Miller and Anais Nin's Mother, and Obie Award-winner Rocco Sisto (Quills at NYTW) as Dr. Rank and Anais Nin's Father."Anais Nin-One Of Her Lives is set in 1930's Paris, when many artists, escaping the confines of their morals and culture, converged on France in the hope of finding a greater aesthetic life. Thematically the play follows the development of a writer who, in the end, must choose her own path if she is to succeed in her literary ambition. Biographically, the play traces the complicated love triangle between Anais Nin, author, Henry Miller and his wife June. A literary ménage a trois is born that is like no other."
The performance schedule is: Tuesday – Saturday at 8pm; Saturday at 3pm; Sunday at 5pm. Tickets are $45, and $35 students/seniors. Preview tickets are $32. Tickets are available online at www.ticketcentral.com, 212-279-4200, or at Theatre Row Box Office.
