Groundswell Theatricals is pleased to announce a reading of Let Loose the Horses, a new rock musical with music and lyrics by Rob Giles and The Rescues, with a book by Scott Cameron, and with direction and choreography by Andrew Palermo. The reading will take place on August 22.
Let Loose the Horses is an explosive alternative rock musical about love, sin, and searching for forgiveness in the aftermath. A resilient woman (Rebecca Naomi Jones, Passing Strange, American Idiot) struggles to rebuild a life with her new husband (Colin Donnell, Jersey Boys, Anything Goes) and troubled younger brother (Andy Mientus, NBC's "Smash") after a catastrophic flood in the dystopian West. When a tormented lover (Joshua Henry, The Scottsboro Boys) from her past shows up to try and win her back, she's pulled into a dangerous web of adultery and violence spun by religious zealots. Let Loose the Horses is a sexually provocative show that fuses epic rock songs with innovative dance to explore just how far we can fall before we rise from the ashes.
Let Loose the Horses is produced by Staci Levine at Groundswell Theatricals and features orchestrations, arrangements, and music direction by Brian Usifer, sound design by John Shivers, and casting by Carrie Gardner. Tim Hurley is general manager.
The cast includes Gerard Canonico*, Maria Carofano, Diane Davis*, Colin Donnell*, Marielis Garcia, Angela Grovey*, Samantha Jo Harvey, Joshua Henry*, Rebecca Naomi Jones*, Marty Lawson*, Alice Lee*, Colby Lindeman*, Andy Mientus*, Katerina Papacostas*, Conrad Ricamora*, and Tommy Scrivens*.
