Beginning Thursday, January 12, 2012, Harlan Bengel, Toby Billowitz, Lute Breuer, Hunter Canning, Anthony Cochrane, Andrew Durand, Ben Horner, Leah Hofmann, Tessa Klein, David Lansbury, David Manis, Nat McIntyre, Geoffrey Murphy, Andy Murray, Tommy Schrider, and Jack Spann will join the 37 member Acting Company of the Tony Award winning production of War Horse. The National Theatre of Great Britain's production, presented by Lincoln Center Theater and The National Theatre of Great Britain in association with Bob Boyett, continues its open ended run at the Vivian Beaumont Theater (150 West 65 Street).
The new cast members will join Stephen James Anthony, Alyssa Bresnahan, Richard Crawford, Sanjit De Silva, Joel Reuben Ganz, Ben Graney, Alex Hoeffler, Brian Lee Huynh, Jeslyn Kelly, Tom Lee, Jonathan Christopher MacMillan, Jonathan David Martin, David Pegram, Kate Pfaffl, Leenya Rideout, Jude Sandy, Hannah Sloat, Elliot Villar, Enrico D. Wey, Isaac Woofter and Madeleine Rose Yen.
Departing the company on Sunday, January 8 are Zach Appelman, Matt Doyle, Austin Durant, Joby Earle, Ariel Heller, Peter Hermann, Ian Lassiter, Boris McGiver, Seth Numrich, Prentice Onayemi, Bhavesh Patel, Stephen Plunkett, Liam Robinson, T. Ryder Smith, Zach Villa, and Cat Walleck.
War Horse is based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo, adapted by Nick Stafford, with Handspring Puppet Company, and directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, with scenic design by Rae Smith, puppet design, fabrication and direction by Adrian Kohler with Basil Jones for Handspring Puppet Company, lighting by Paule Constable, direction of movement and horse movement by Toby Sedgwick, animation & projection design by 59 Productions, music by Adrian Sutton, songs by John Tams, sound design by Christopher Shutt, and musical direction by Greg Pliska.
War Horse swept the 2011 theater awards winning five Tony Awards including Best Play, the Drama Desk Award for Best Play, three Outer Critics Circle Awards including Best Play and the Drama League Award for Outstanding Production of a Play. In addition, the production won a slew of special awards including a special Tony Award to the Handspring Puppet Company, a citation from the New York Drama Critics Circle, a special Drama Desk Award to the Creative Team for Thrilling Stagecraft and a special Outer Critics Circle Award to the Handspring Puppet Company.
War Horse premiered at The National Theatre in November 2007. After two sold-out runs at the National War Horse moved to London's West End in March 2009 where it continues to play to capacity houses at the New London Theatre. The National Tour will open in Los Angeles on June 13, 2012, before traveling to 19 other cities during the 2012-2013 season. In addition, another production of War Horse will begin open-ended run in Toronto, Canada in February 2012.

War Horse is performed Tuesday evenings at 7 pm, Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8pm with matinees Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 3 pm. There are no performances on Sunday, December 25; and Tuesday and Wednesday January 10 and 11. There is an added Friday matinee December 23 at 2pm.
