Andrea Goldman to Star in LADY CAPULET Reading in NYC

IRNE-nominated actress ANDREA GOLDMAN (La Cueca, Drama Desk Award Nominated Frankenstein) has been cast in the title role of Lady Rose Capulet, in a staged reading of LADY CAPULET, a prequel to William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

Written by Melissa Bell, LADY CAPULET follows the story of Rose from country girl to lady of Verona and explores the betrayal, revenge and manipulations that set the Houses of Capulet and Montague against one other.

Ms. Goldman is known for her roles of Thaisa in New York Shakespeare Exchange's Pericles, Olivia in Twelfth Night and Calpurnia in Julius Caesar (Elm Shakespeare). She is an alumna of The Flea Theatre and was just nominated for an IRNE for Best Supporting Actress for the role of Kia in The Last Schwartz at Gloucester Stage.

Cristina Lundy (Rape of Lucrece, New York Shakespeare Exchange) will direct the reading, which will be presented by the 29th Street Playwrights Collective New Works Series on Monday, May 1, at 7pm, at the Bernie Wohl Center. This reading is free and open to the public.

An industry presentation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, at 2pm, at Ripley Grier Studio. Industry professionals can find more information at Eventbrite.

The 29th Street Playwrights Collective is dedicated to developing the voices of emerging, mature playwrights through weekly craft discussions and fostering new work for the stage through public readings and workshop performances. It is committed to serving at least 50% women writers and other collaborators.

29th Street Playwright Collective New Works Series is made possible in part with public funds from Creative Engagement, supported by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
