Amy King, Sara Jane Stoner and Joseph Keckler Set for Boog City's BoogWork Series, 10/30

Boog City's last Tuesdays series now features the new BoogWork series alternating with the 10th season of the levy lives: celebrating the renegade press series. BoogWork will feature two poets reading, a musical act performing, and then one of the poets will give the gathered a poetry workshop (don't forget to bring a pen and paper).

Featuring a reading and workshop from Amy King, a reading from Sara Jane Stoner, and music from Joseph Keckler.

The event takes place on Tues., Oct. 30, 6:30 p.M. Sharp at Sidewalk Café, 94 Ave. A, NYC. $5 suggested. Directions: F/V to 2nd Ave., L to 1st Ave. Venue is at E.6th St. For more information, find Boog City on Facebook.

Joseph Keckler is a Brooklyn-based musician, writer, and performance artist. His performance pieces and concerts have been presented by The New Museum, SXSW Music, Joe's Pub, La MaMa ETC, Cameo Gallery, Cinema 16, Amsterdam's Bellevue Theatre, and many other venues. Keckler has received residencies from The MacDowell Colony and Yaddo and is a 2012 New York Foundation for the Arts Fellow in Interdisciplinary Work as well as a 2012 Franklin Furnace Fund grant recipient. He is currently under commission by Dixon Place, where he will premiere his next performance piece I am an Opera in spring 2013. www.josephkeckler.com

John Ashbery described Amy King's poems in her most recent book from Litmus Press, I Want to Make You Safe, as bringing “abstractions to brilliant, jagged life, emerging into rather than out of the busyness of living.” King conducts interviews for VIDA: Woman in Literary Arts and teaches English and creative writing at SUNY Nassau Community College. Sara Jane Stoner is a writer who teaches writing, writing pedagogy, and contemporary literature at Brooklyn College and Cooper Union. She has an M.F.A. from Indiana University and is a Ph.D. student in English at CUNY Graduate Center whose scholarly work focuses on queerness, sex, and unruly contemporary prose texts.
