Stephen Tomlinson's new show, American Fiesta, will make its New York Premiere at the Vineyard Theatre. It will be the theatre's final production for the 2006-7 season. Previews start April 14 and opening night is April 26. Mark Brokaw (Vineyard's How I Learned to Drive, The Dying Gaul, and the Long Christmas Ride Home) will direct.

The play follows a collector of Fiestaware in his travels across a divided nation. His startling encounters with so-called "blue" and "red" state residents, as well as his own family when he announces his intention to marry his same-sex partner, make for a funny, powerful take on the cultural and political differences in contemporary America.

American Fiesta marks the New York stage debut of Austin, Texas native Tomlinson. The show debuted in Austin and won the American Theatre Critics Association "Osborn Award" for Best Play by an up-and-coming playwright.

American Fiesta's creative time includes Neil Patel (set design), Jan Hartley (production design), David Lander (lighting design), and David Van Tieghem and Jill BC Duboff (sound design). Original music is by David Van Tieghem.

Performances of American Fiesta run April 14 through May 20, Mondays, Wednesdays-Saturdays at 8pm; with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 3pm. The Vineyard Theatre is at 108 E 15th St, New York City.

Tickets go on sale March 29 and are $50. For reservations, call the box office at 212-353-0303 or log onto www.vineyardtheatre.org.
