According to a report by Baz Bamigboye for UK Daily Mail, Ugly Betty star America Ferrera, is in talks to star in Neil LaBute's West End production of reasons to be pretty. Ferrera joins the previously announced Julia Stiles for the show, which is set to open in the spring at Ambassador Theatre Group.
The show covers the same touchy subjects as did Ugly Betty, and Ferrera said of these topics in 2006, 'it's so reassuring to have a heroine who triumphs with more than just what she has on the outside. To me, the tragedy about this whole image-obsessed society is that young girls get so caught up in just achieving that, they forget they have so much more to offer the world.'
The production will be joint directed by Howard Panter and with Rosemary Squire. Panter is also producing reasons to be pretty along with Tali Pelman. Past producing credits for the pair include The Misanthrope, starring Damian Lewis and Keira Knightley.
