According to WENN, actress Amanda Seyfried admitted to starting rumors about a Mamma Mia! sequel being in the works, since she's eager to reprise the role of Sophie.

The actress played the lead role in the 2008 film based on the music from Abba. Seyfried's co-star in the film, Dominic Cooper, is now her real-life love.

Last year, it was rumored that director Phyllida Lloyd was working on a sequel- but now Seyfried says she took the gossip and spread it.

According to reports, she told Cinema blend, "I think I might have started that rumour. I started sharing a rumour that I heard that there was a Mamma Mia! 2."

But the actress now admits that a sequel is very unlikely, and even if there were one, neither her, Cooper, or co-star Pierce Brosnan would be involved.

She said, "My boyfriend (Cooper) had talked to Phyllida (Lloyd) and she said that if they do Mamma Mia! they are going to use a whole new cast and do a prequel. And then that's when I said no, it's not going to happen...And Pierce (Brosnan) recently said that it wasn't going to happen either. So sadly no."

Besides her role in Mamma Mia!, Seyfried is best known for playing the role of ditzy Karen Smith in "Mean Girls." Seyfried's other film credits include "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves," "Alpha Dog," "American Gun" and "Nine Lives." Her TV credits include "Veronica Mars," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," and "Big Love," on which she plays Sarah Henrickson. Other recent notable appearance include a lead role in "Jennifer's Body" in 2009, and one of the two lead roles in "Dear John" this year.
