Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre has announced a performance and installation at the home of architects Marcia Previti and Peter Gumpel in East Hampton, NY on Saturday, August 25, 2012. The evening begins at 4:30 p.m. with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and garden performance installations. A more formal performance will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by a reception. Green Afternoon takes place at 230 Old Stone Hwy, East Hampton, NY 11937. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at http://amandaselwyndtgreenafternoon.eventbrite.com/.
The evening will feature excerpts from two works from the company's repertoire: Detour and Five Minutes. Detour shifts perspective and perception. Turning movement inside out, Detour plays with timing and musicality, stillness and repetition, spatial design and direction. It is in these moments of detour, when the possibilities for change reveal themselves. Five Minutes takes the audience through a series of contrasting emotional and physical paradigms in five-minute intervals. The piece asks: what does it mean to wait for five minutes? To fill five minutes? How is time measured differently by our experiences?
