Following a sold-out 3-week Paris engagement in July, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (AAADT), will return to Europe to perform in Copenhagen, Denmark(,) from September 15 - 20; and Athens, Greece, from September 24 - 27. AAADT, recognized by U.S. Congress as a vital American "Cultural Ambassador to the World," will be welcomed to both countries with receptions hosted by the respective U.S. Ambassadors. In Copenhagen, Ailey Partners will join with the Company in a variety of special activities, including a visit with members of the Danish Royal family following a performance at the famed Tivoli Concert Hall. After enjoying a special class taught by AAADT Rehearsal Director Ronni Favors, local students will have the opportunity to perform with Ailey's extraordinary artists in special presentations of Alvin Ailey's Memoria.

On sale starting September 8th, AAADT's five-week New York City Center season from December 2, 2009 through January 3, 2010 will celebrate 2009 TIME 100 Honoree Judith Jamison. As she embarks on her 20th year as Artistic Director, Jamison will be honored at a one-night-only (opening - I don't think this is necessary) benefit performance, hosted by Pauletta and Denzel Washington, and in a series of special programs including: Ronald K. Brown's world premiere tribute (called-remove) Dancing Spirit, live onstage appearances by Anna Deavere Smith in Judith Jamison's
Emmy Award-winning Hymn, and a Best of 20 Years program featuring works commissioned or revived under Jamison's leadership. For a detailed schedule of the New York City/winter season, a joyous holiday tradition, and information on tickets, which start at $25, visit www.AlvinAiley.org.
