Ken Davenport and Robyn Goodman, in association with Walt Grossman, Ruth Hendel, Sharon Karmazin, Matt Murphy and Mark Shacket, are proud to announce that ALTAR BOYZ, the new acclaimed musical comedy now off-Broadway at Dodger Stages, will kick off its first national tour in Motor City, the town that gave the world some of the biggest names in music - from Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, the Four Tops, to KISS and EMINEM – the ALTAR BOYZ are humbled to walk in the shadow of those greats when they begin a limited engagement at the famed City Theater in September.

Altar Boyz will be kicking off the 44th season of the Fisher Player Subscription Series (September – October at City Theatre), followed by Cathy Rigby starring in Peter Pan (October 2005, Fisher Theatre), Golda's Balcony starring Valerie Harper (November 2005, Fisher Theatre), Little Women - The Musical starring Maureen McGovern (December 2005, Fisher Theatre), Chicago (February 2006, Fisher Theatre), Three Mo' Tenors (March 2006, Fisher Theatre) and Wicked (June 2006, Masonic Temple Theatre).

Armed with catchy melodies, divine moves and product in their hair, ALTAR BOYZ is the new musical comedy where the acclaimed apostles of pop bring their soul-soothing tour to Detroit, with their heavenly lyrics like "Girl, You Make Me Wanna Wait." Altar Boyz was recently honored with four Lortel Award nominations, including Best Musical, from the League of Off-Broadway Theaters & Producers.

The cast will be announced shortly, but Shadoe Stevens will continue as the voice of G.O.D.

ALTAR BOYZ is directed by Stafford Arima and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli. ALTAR BOYZ has a score by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker with book by Kevin Del Aguila, based on an (immaculate) concept by Marc Kessler and Ken Davenport.

The creative team includes scene design by Anna Louizos, costume design by Gail Brassard and lighting design by Natasha Katz. Lynne Shankel will serve as Music Director and Co-Orchestrator with Doug Katsaros.

Subscription series tickets are priced from $230 - $465 for all seven shows and are now on sale.
