Robert Alpaugh recently announced his decision to resign as Executive Director of North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT).

In his role as Executive Director,. Alpaugh had been responsible for overseeing the business operations of the Theatre as well as for developing long-range administrative goals and strategies.

"I am proud of the accomplishments of the Theatre under my leadership and wish all good things for its future.  Right now I am looking forward to devoting my efforts to the development of a new play based on a book chronicling the extraordinary life of Eleanor Medill Patterson," said Robert Alpaugh concerning his departure.

"With NSMT since October of 2005, Alpaugh was instrumental in helping the organization recover from a devastating fire that nearly destroyed the theater in July of 2005, including, acting as lead negotiator in securing, on behalf of NSMT, a one-time $500,000 appropriation from the Massachusetts legislature for fire recovery.  As part of an overall plan to stabilize and strengthen the organization, Alpaugh initiated and participated in the development of a strategic planning process for the theater, and oversaw the company's Encore Fund which was created in the aftermath of the fire.  Additionally,  Alpaugh worked to develop a business plan adopted by NSMT which reduced deficits and provided a business model for NSMT's current and future operations," state press notes.

"Everyone at North Shore Music Theatre wishes Robert well in his future endeavors," said Kevin Bottomley, Chairman of NSMT Board of Trustees.  "We are appreciative of his efforts in jumpstarting the strategic planning process and I look forward to working with the NSMT staff and Board of Trustees on this important plan for our future."

Prior to joining North Shore Music Theatre, Alpaugh served as Director of Institutional Advancement at the Tony Award-winning Victory Gardens Theater (VGT) in Chicago. At VTG, Alpaugh developed and managed all aspects of a $15 million capital campaign, as well as the purchase and restoration of the historic Biograph Theater, which will become VGT's new home.  A 20-year theater and dance industry veteran, Alpaugh has also consulted for such companies as Chicago Opera Theater and The Joffrey Ballet, and was Managing Director of the Arizona Theatre Company and the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

"Operating since 1955, NSMT has evolved into the largest non-profit producing theater in New England, with approximately 350,000 patrons annually.  NSMT has gained a national and regional reputation for artistic achievement, specifically in the areas of developing new works and providing outstanding theater arts and education programs."
