Alliance Theatre, BDF & ArtsBridge Partner to Honor Tony Winner Casey Nicholaw This Weekend

The Alliance Theatre has partnered with Broadway Dreams Foundation and ArtsBridge Foundation, two premier arts education programs, in celebration of Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw (Aladdin, The Book of Mormon) and his outstanding contribution to the American Musical Theatre. The celebration will feature a musical journey through Nicholaw's career, including a sneak peek of Tuck Everlasting, a world premiere new musical now in performances at the Alliance Theatre. The 80-minute musical celebration, which is open to the public, will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre (2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway, Atlanta, GA). Celebrating Casey Nicholaw will feature a performance from the Alliance Theatre's world premiere production of Tuck Everlasting, by Tony Award nominee Carolee Carmello, Andrew Keenan- Bolger, Robert Lenzi, Sarah Charles Lewis, and Michael Park. The program will also feature musical performances by young Atlanta-area performers, including Jai'Len Josey (Broadway Dreamer and 2014 Shuler Awards winner), Sarah Stipe (Broadway Dreamer), Angelica Hale (Broadway Dreamer), Benjamin Harding, Matt Alea (Broadway Dreamer and Shuler Awards performer), JT Butler, Daniel Fabes, Jordan Garcia, Kristian Hamilton, Jayson Lee, Cansler McGhee (Dreamer), Joey Merendino, Commordore Primous, Billy Shearstone, and Matthew Welsh (Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts at Pebblebrook High School).

Casey Nicholaw is a critically acclaimed, Tony Award-winning Broadway director and choreographer. He is currently represented on Broadway with the 2014 Tony Award-nominated production of Disney's Aladdin and The Book of Mormon, for which he won a 2011 Tony Award for "Best Direction of a Musical." Other credits as director/choreographer include the Broadway productions of The Drowsy Chaperone, Elf: The Musical, Monty Python's Spamalot, NBC's "Smash," and PBS' "Great Performances."
