Amas Musical Theatre in association with North Haven Arts and Enrichment has announced that Broadway's Josh Grisetti (Broadway Bound, Enter Laughing), Alli Mauzey (Wicked, Cry-Baby), and Kevin Pariseau (Legally Blonde) will head the cast of the New York Premiere of Red Eye of Love, a new musical (based on the 1961 play by Arnold Weinstein) with book and lyrics by Arnold Weinstein and John Wulp, music by Sam Davisand scenic design by renowned American artist Robert Indiana. Directed by Tony Award winner Ted Sperling, previews will begin at the Dicapo Opera Theatre (184 East 76th Street at Lexington Avenue) on Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Opening night set for Thursday, September 4 at 8pm. Performances will continue through September 28, 2014.

Red Eye of Love is a mad-cap musical love triangle that pits a young, forthright idealist against a wealthy, jaded materialist whose department store sells just one product: meat. They compete for the girl they love in a mythic New York City, against a background of 20th Century Boom Time, War and Depression.

"If ever a musical could be said to be passionately absurd, romantically surreal, and quintessentially American, all at the same time, it's Red Eye of Love," says Donna Trinkoff, Amas Artistic Producer. "This is a primal, comic tug-of-war between the '1%' and everyone else that tells a 'tale of two cities' that couldn't be more perfectly timed or better humored."

Joining Mr. Grisetti, Ms. Mauzey and Mr. Pariseau are: Dylan Boyd (NY Theatre debut), Katie Chung (Bunty Berman Presents), Patch David (The Anthem), Daniel Lynn Evans (NY Theatre debut), Tracie Franklin (Futurology), Katie Hagen (NY Theatre debut), and Daniel May (NY Theatre debut).

The creative team is comprised of: Robert Indiana (scenic design), Martha Bromelmeier (costume design), Matthew Richards (lighting design), David Wilson (projection design), Lainie Sakakura and Alex Sanchez (choreographers), Greg Jarrett (music director), Joel Elins (production stage manager), and Kate Kavett (assistant stage manager).

Red Eye of Love began life as a straight play by Arnold Weinstein at The Living Theatre in 1961 and earned John Wulp an Obie Award as Best Director. Noted artist Robert Indiana contributed his set designs in 1998 when Wulp restaged the original play in Maine. It is these designs that are used in the current musical production of the play. Weinstein and Wulp began collaboration on a musical version, completing the book and lyrics just before Weinstein's death in 2005. Wulp and director Ted Sperling, whose production of The Other Josh Cohen for Amas in 2012 earned six Drama Desk Award Nominations, brought young composer Sam Davis aboard last year to complete the creative team.

Red Eye of Love will play the following performance schedule: Wednesday at 3pm & 8pm, Thursday & Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 3pm & 8pm and Sunday at 3pm. Tickets are $25-$55 ($75 premium seating) and are available through SmartTix.com/(212) 868-4444. Tickets will also be available the Dicapo Opera Theatre box office one hour before performance time.
