Mothers and Sons, the new play by four-time Tony Award-winning playwright Terrence McNally and starring Tyne Daly, opens tomorrow, March 24, 2014 at Broadway's John Golden Theatre. Also in the cast are Bobby Steggert, Frederick Weller, and Grayson Taylor. Tony nominee Sheryl Kaller (Next Fall) directs.

Mothers and Sons, a play about a mother who pays a surprise visit to the New York apartment of her late son's ex-partner, who is now married to another man and has a young son. Challenged to face how society has changed around her - without her - she is finally able to see the rich life her son might have led. The cast also features Obie and Drama Desk Award winner Weller and Tony Award nominee Steggert.

Daly created this role in the world premiere of Mothers and Sons at Bucks County Playhouse. She appeared on Broadway, in London and in Washington in Terrence McNally's Master Class. In 2011 she was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame. Theater: NY: The Butter and Egg Man (NY debut 1966), That Summer-That Fall(Broadway debut 1967), Gypsy (1990 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards) and Rabbit Hole (Tony nomination). L.A.: Ashes; Three Sisters; Gethsemane Springs and Come Back, Little Sheba. Television: Six nominations and four Emmy Awards for "Cagney & Lacey" and Emmys for "Christy" and "Judging Amy." Television films include "Intimate Strangers," "The Women's Room," "Larry," "The Entertainer," "Kids Like These," "Bye Bye Birdie" and "The Wedding Dress." Films: John & Mary, The Enforcer, Telefon, Zoot Suit and Basmati Blues, which she filmed in India.
