Stage, film and television actress Alison Pill will replace Kerry Condon in the role of Mairead in the Atlantic Theater Company's critically acclaimed production of Academy Award-winner Martin McDonagh's The Lieutenant of Inishmore beginning Tuesday, April 4. Condon, whose final performance will be Sunday, April 2 at 7pm, will leave the production to return to work on the HBO series "Rome."

The black comedy, which opened on Monday, February 27th at the Atlantic, will continue through Sunday, April 9th before it moves to the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway beginning April 18th (opening night is Wednesday, May 3rd).

The production marks the American premiere of McDonagh's Olivier Award-winning play. Directed by Wilson Milam, it also stars brian d'Arcy James (Sweet Smell of Success), as well as Domhnall Gleeson, and David Wilmot; the latter two (as well as Condon) appeared in the original British production. Also included in the play's cast are Jeff Binder, Andrew Connolly, Dashiell Eaves, and Peter Gerety.

A "scorchingly black comedy, The Lieutenant of Inishmore is set in 1993 in County Galway on the rocky island of Inishmore, off the coast of Ireland. Padraic is a terrorist with no feeling for those he blows up, but has an obsessive attachment to Thomas, his beloved cat. But someone has killed poor wee Thomas. Was it an accident or an execution? Either way, the death must be concealed before 'Mad Padraic' returns from a stint of torture and bombing. Otherwise the recriminations will be horrifying," according to production notes.

Pill won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble in the U.S. premiere of Neil LaBute's The Distance From Here with the Manhattan Class Company and was nominated for a Lucille Lortel Award for her role in Christopher Shinn's On The Mountain with Playwrights Horizons. In addition, she starred in an off-Broadway run of None of the Above at the Ohio Theatre. Recent film work includes Thomas Vinterberg's Dear Wendy, the Disney feature Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and the Sundance Festival favorite Pieces of April. Her numerous television projects include the NBC series "The Book of Daniel," "Life With Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows," "An Unexpected Love," "The Pilot's Wife," "What Girls Learn," "Midwives," "Baby," and the Lifetime Original movie "Plain Truth."

The play--which premiered at the RSC in 2001 before transferring--is part of McDonagh's trilogy of Aran Island plays, which also include The Cripple of Inishmaan and The Banshees of Inisheer. The Lieutenant of Inishmore won the 2003 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy and was nominated for the 2002 London Evening Standard Theatre Award for Best Play. McDonagh is a recent Oscar-winner for his short film Six Shooter.

The show's scenic design is by Scott Pask (Tony Award for The Pillowman), with costume design by Theresa Squire, lighting design by Michael Chybowski and sound design by Obadiah Eaves.

Tickets to the Broadway production will be available by calling Telecharge.com at 212-239-6200 beginning March 26.
