A rare opportunity for both Broadway and music fans, The Ripley Cover Contest invites participants to perform a video cover of one of their favorite Alice Ripley songs for the chance to win two (2) VIP, front-row tickets to Daily Practice: The Acoustic Sessions to be held May 2, 2011 at Stage 773 (1225 W. Belmont), backstage Meet & Greet passes, and exclusive event merchandise. The contest will celebrate Alice's new sophomore album, featuring acoustic covers of some of her favorite rock songs.
"The selections on Daily Practice are all what I consider standard rock songs that have been absolutely essential to keeping me alive," says Ripley. "Springsteen's ‘Thunder Road' and
Carole King's ‘It's Too Late' are examples of why I am a singer/songwriter. I practice these songs every day. The melodies are timeless in the rock world, the lyrics are words that I need to say, and they need to be heard again. Playing these songs keeps my heart in shape, like going to the gym, but in a more mysterious way."
How to Enter:
· Create a short video (under 2 minutes) of yourself performing your favorite
Alice Ripley number. You may use costumes, props, instruments- anything you'd like! Get creative! You may only select from the following list of productions/albums to be eligible: Next to Normal, The Rocky Horror Show, Side Show, The Who's Tommy, Everything's Fine (Ripley's debut album)
· The contest opens at 5:00PM CST on April 7, 2011 and closes at 11:59 PM CST on April 28, 2011.
