Jason Alexander.jpg" />Jason Alexander, who was a Tony Award-winning Broadway performer in his pre-"Seinfeld" days, will give a workshop preview of his new one-man show Am I There Yet? A Private Therapy Session with Music at the Edgemar Center for the Arts in Santa Monica, CA on August 19th at 8 PM. Proceeds from the performance will benefit the Edgemar.

Alexander won a 1989 Tony for Best Actor in a Musical for taking on various roles in Jerome Robbins' Broadway--among them, Fiddler on the Roof's Tevye and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum's Pseudolus. The actor, who starred as Max Bialystock in the Los Angeles company of The Producers, also appeared on Broadway in Accomplice, Neil Simon's Broadway Bound, The Rink and the original production of Merrily We Roll Along (in which he played producer Joe Josephson).

In addition to playing hapless George Costanza on "Seinfeld," he has starred on TV in "Bob Patterson," and was the voice of "Duckman." Alexander's film credits include Pretty Woman, Jacob's Ladder, North, the telemusical versions of "Bye Bye Birdie" and "Cinderella" (the Disney remake), For Better or Worse, Love! Valour! Compassion, The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, Shallow Hal, and the TV musical "A Christmas Carol."

"Edgemar Center for the Arts, located in Frank Gehry's architectural landmark building, is host to theatre productions, jazz and cabaret shows, revolving art exhibitions, film festivals and public arts programs serving underprivileged children in the Westside community. Theatre, dance, music, film, and visual arts come together in one place. Students and seasoned professionals perform side-by-side--their work is a culmination of workshops, rehearsals, and collaboration across disciplines. This is the purpose and the realization of a Center for the Arts. Nestled between a café, salon, retail shops, and an annex of the Museum of Contemporary Art store, Edgemar Center for the Arts is the anchor of the Edgemar complex on Main Street in Santa Monica. Michelle Danner, renowned actress and teacher, is the Executive Artistic Director of the complex," according to a press article.

The Edgemar Center for the Arts is located at 2437 Main Street in Santa Monica. Tickets, which are $100 (tax-deductible), are available by RSVPing at 310 392-7327; space is limited. For more information, visit www.edgemarcenter.org.
