FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY continues its Spring 2008 season with the debut engagement of Alexander Gemignani for two nights only on May 5 and 18. Mr. Gemignani is currently starring on Broadway in the Roundabout Theater Company's critically-acclaimed revival of Sunday In the Park With George. His new show, "Getting Gone," will be directed by Erin Ortman and will feature songs by Rodgers & Hart, Cole Porter, Billy Joel, Sara Bareilles, Ben Folds and the newcomer Todd Alsup. Mr. Gemignani will be joined by Tedd Firth on piano, Matt Aronoff on bass, Larry Lelli on drums and Tony Romano on guitar. Both shows are at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).
Alexander Gemignani won a Theatre World Award for outstanding Broadway debut as John Hinckley in the Roundabout's production of Assassins. Other Broadway credits include the original Jean Valjean in the revival of Les Misérables, for which he won a Drama League nomination; the Beadle in
Sweeney Todd, for which he received a Drama Desk nomination; and Brian in
Avenue Q. He played
Sweeney Todd in the 2007 national tour of
Sweeney Todd (Toronto and Columbus). He has taken part in Concerts for
Stephen Sondheim's 75th Birthday at the Hollywood Bowl and Wall to Wall Sondheim at Symphony Space. His TV and film credits include the "Live from Lincoln Center" production of Passion; the PBS production of
South Pacific and the film The Producers.
