The Town Hall's Broadway by the Year's® 12th Season continues with The Broadway Musicals of 1950 on Monday, March 19th at 8PM. 1950 was a year that brought us famous shows by musical theater icons including Frank Loesser, (Guys and Dolls), Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse (Call Me Madam), and Cole Porter (Out of This World), among others. Produced by The Town Hall, The Broadway Musicals of 1950 is created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel.
The cast for The Broadway Musicals of 1950 includes Matt Cavenaugh (West Side Story), Bill Daugherty (Brother, Can You Spare a Dime), Alexander Gemignani (The People in the Picture), KendRick Jones (The Scottsboro Boys), Aaron Lazar (A Little Night Music), Jenny Powers (Little Women), Elizabeth Stanley (Merrily We Roll Along), and Tony® Award winner Bobby Steggert (Ragtime), with additional casting soon to be announced. They will be performing such great songs as "Luck be a Lady," I'll Know," "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat," "From This Moment On," "Nobody's Chasing Me," "You're Just in Love," and many more! The Broadway Musicals of 1950 will be directed by Alexander Gemignani, with musical direction by Ross Patterson.
Scott Siegel, who created Broadway by the Year® for The Town Hall, and who writes and hosts each concert, said of this next offering, "I am excited by the prospect of matching up the classic Broadway show tunes of 1950 with this amazing cast. It's rare to get so many great voices together for one concert. And I'm particularly pleased that we have two wonderful stars, Matt Cavenaugh and Jenny Powers, making their Broadway by the Year® debuts with this show. I'm delighted to bring back Elizabeth Stanley who so recently won raves for her performance in The Encores! production of Merrily We Roll Along. And as is so often the case, many great talents we featured early in their careers have blossomed into major musical theater stars like Aaron Lazar, Bobby Steggert, and Alexander Gemignani. And we have given the start to some of the best and brightest new directors in town, including Alexander Gemignani who is directing this concert.
