Featuring a cast of Alexa Green (Wicked, Company), Kelly King (Babyface, Michael Bolton) and Marissa Rosen (My Big Gay Italian Wedding), it is hosted and produced by Marty Thomas (Xanadu, The Secret Garden and Wicked). DIVA celebrates fabulous female vocalists paying tribute to some of histories most over the top icons! The cast performs a brand new show every week with exciting new guests rotating.
Monday, January 7, the divas are joined for by Broadway star Alena Watters!
Alena Watters is Graduate of the University of Northern Colorado withher BA in Musical Theatre/Acting. Her Broadway credits include the recent West Side Story revival (Anita standby), the original company of The Addams Family (Ancestor, OBC recording), and she currently shines in the original company of the Tony nominated musical Sister Act(Tina/Ensemble).
Off-Broadway her comedic chops were showcased in Boobs! The Musical & with the original cast of the drama-desk nominated Newsical. Among her regional credits are Brooklyn(Brooklyn/Faith u/s & vocals, Denver Civic Theatre), Turn of The Century(Waitress/Ensemble, Tommy Tune & the writers of Jersey Boys, Rick Elice & Marshall Brickman), Annie(Grace),Shout! The Mod Musical(Blue Girl),andnumerous productions of Beehive! The 60s Musical(Pattie).
Aléna had the honor of 'workin' it out' as a Harlette for the 'Divine Miss M' herself, Bette Midler, at the New York Metropolitan Opera House for a concert in 2007, and proceeded to do work in Bette's Las Vegas extravaganza, The Showgirl Must Go On. In 2010 Aléna debuted a solo act, Sass & Fabulousness, at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, filmed in part for the upcoming Broadway documentary The Standys (http://www.thestandbys.com/standbys.html).
Smaller projects include Raw Impressions Musical Theatre Marathon, Ripfest: Collaborative Film Project(featured in musical short The One That I Want,nominated for best short film in several film festivals), Monday Night New Voices (Duplex/Scott Alan), The Independent Actor's Showcase, Rockers On Broadway, ABC's Live! With Regis & Kelly (dancing in gold spandex for the 'Relly Awards'), along with numerous industrials, & vocal demos/recordings (she is the voice of the Move Free song). Favorite readings include Leap OfFaith, Bonnie& Clyde(Hunter Foster/Rick Crom), Cutman, LBS, and Ryan Scott Oliver's Darling(featured on NBC's 2010 The Apprentice: Broadway Backersepisode). For her success & dedication, Aléna had the honor of being named the youngest recipient of UNCo's 2009 Alumni Association's Creative Achievement Award.
