The John Drew Theater at Guild Hall in East Hampton presents Arthur Miller's award-winning American classic All My Sons starring Alec Baldwin and Laurie Metcalf and directed by Stephen Hamilton. The play will run Tuesdays through Sundays, tonight, June 9, through June 28, and is produced by Guild Hall in association with Roy Furman and Ellen Myers.

All My Sons focuses on the aftermath of World War II. Two families struggle to come to terms with the brutal reality of what they have lost and gained. The confrontations that ensue lead to the uncovering of a shameful family secret. Provocative and heart-breaking, All My Sons is a compelling story of love, guilt and the corrupting power of greed that still resonates today.

All My Sons first opened on Broadway in January 1947 and ran for a staggering 328 performances starring Ed Begley, Beth Miller, Arthur Kennedy, and Karl Malden. Directed by Elia Kazan, to whom it is dedicated, the production won the Tony Award for Best Authored Play and the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award, famously beating Eugene O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh.

The play was the first great success of Arthur Miller's influential career and the play that launched him into being acknowledged as one of the leading dramatists of the Twentieth Century. With a career that spanned over 50 years, Miller's probing dramas, which include Death of a Salesman, The Crucible and A View from the Bridge, transformed the American stage with what proved to be the conscience of that period.

All My Sons was the main reason why Arthur Miller was called to appear before the House Un-American Activities Committee during the 1950s. The play questioned the American Dream at a time when the country was gripped by anti-communist hysteria. Miller sent a copy of the play to Kazan, a former member of the Communist Party who shared Miller's left-wing views. However, their relationship was destroyed when Kazan notoriously and unapologetically named names of suspected Communists to the House Un-American Activities Committee.

The play previews tonight through Friday June 9, 10, 11, 12 at 8pm and opens on Saturday June 13 at 7pm. It runs Tuesdays through Sundays at 8pm, except for a matinee on Sunday June 28th at 3pm. There is no performance on Wednesday, June 17.
