In May, Any Wednesday will bring audiences an abundance of cabaret divas.

"As always Any Wednesday brings you the best in cabaret, jazz and theater music in live free concerts in our comfortable events space on the third floor of Barnes and Noble at 66th and Broadway. Unless noted below, the concerts begin at 6:00 p.m., last approximately a half hour, and are followed by meet-and-greet/autograph sessions with the artists," state press materials.

May 2: "Karen Akers is currently appearing at the fabled Oak Room. This international cabaret star is presenting a tribute to Broadway composer, Jule Styne for which she has received wonderful reviews. Akers will present some songs from this show, plus some from her wonderful album 'Like It Was,' which she will be signing at the event. Ms. Akers is the ultimate in sophisticated cool, but she has a warm and witty side as well."

May 7 (Monday): This special event begins at 7 p.m. and features an delightful new book entitled 'What Would Barbra Do?' written by award-winning English journalist, Emma Brockes. The book details her obsession with musical theater and films, and the influence they have had on her life, something many on this list can relate to. Joining the clever, amusing author will be two of New York cabaret's most creative performers: Bill Daugherty and Constance Pachl. Taking time off from their World War II show, 'When the Lights Go On Again,' currently at the Triad, they too will share memories of growing up musical theater fans, and perform some of their favorite songs as well."

May 9: "Of course, the title of Ms. Brockes' book refers to Barbra Streisand, and tonight we have...Okay we don't have the Brooklyn diva, but we have the next best thing. Steven Brinberg is a celebrated performer and tribute artist whose new album "Simply Barbra: The Duets Album" pairs him (as Ms. Streisand) with some of the best and brightest cabaret and theater performers. He hopes to have some special guests joining him for the event."

Earlier on the same afternoon, at 12:30 pm., B&N will be hosting Linda Eder who will be signing her new CD, a new collection of her best loves songs. This collection is a Barnes and Noble exclusive. Please note that Ms. Eder will not be performing at this event.

May 16: "Local acclaimed jazz performer Louise Rogers will guest star. Ms. Rogers is a regular visitor to B&N, beloved by both our younger patrons and their parents. She is an inventive singer whose repertoire spans from 'Shenandoah' to 'Twisted.' Please join us to discover this creative artist, or to renew your acquaintance."

May 23: "Jessica Molaskey has a new album out from PSClassics and that is always cause for celebration. 'Sitting in Limbo' continues the jazz singer's exploration of the Great American Songbook in her own inimitable mix of wit, intelligence, emotion and the unexpected. Accompanying her will be her husband, jazz artist John Pizzarelli."

May 30: "Returning for a second visit is the magical Maude Maggart, who also has a new album coming out, simply entitled 'Live.' The album traces the romance of her grandparents, he a big-band musician, she a Broadway showgirl, through a series of classic songs. Ms. Maggart will share some of those songs and family stories with us. This will be a great way to end our parade of cabaret divas. At least until next month."
