Celebrate Black History Month from February 1 - February 28, 2011

Every Friday and Saturday - 1:00 p.m. Afternoon Film Series

The Afternoon Film Series focuses on the different sites throughout the National Park Service relating to the African American experience.

Saturday Feb. 12 and Saturday Feb. 26 -11:00 a.m.
Family Memory Box Workshop

Join us for an arts and craft workshop where participants will create a memory box and explore the ways that individual and collective artistic expressions can be made through a variety of material.

Every Wednesday - 10:30 a.m.
Gallery Talks
Join us as park rangers offer a more in depth look at the visitor center and the themes that center around the African Burial Ground National Monument.

Tuesday Feb. 15 - 12:15 p.m. African Textiles

Learn about the significance and importance of textiles used throughout African culture such as Kente, Adinkra, and Mud cloth.

All events are free and open to the public. Reservations are required.

African Burial Ground National Monument
Visitor Center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm and closed on all Federal holidays. The memorial is open 7 days a week, 9 am to 4 pm and closed on all Federal holidays. The events will take place at the African Burial Ground National Monument, located on the first floor of the Ted Weiss Federal Building at 290 Broadway in Lower Manhattan, close to Foley Square and just north of City Hall.
