The cast of Broadway's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will present an Adults Only performance on Sunday, May 6 at 7:30pm. The performance, according to press materials, will feature "two lovely guest spellers from Scores," the noted Manhattan strip club.
"Due to the overwhelming success of last year's adult nights and the fact that the students of Putnam County can no longer be kept g-rated, the show will offer a much anticipated and all-risqué version of the Tony Award-winning musical. Leave your children at home with the sitter and come get an education of your own from the kids who know how to spell 'D-I-R-T-Y.'"
Spelling Bee is the Tony Award-winning musical with music and lyrics by William Finn, book by Rachel Sheinkin, conceived by Rebecca Feldman and directed by James Lapine. "A hilariously hip musical comedy, Spelling Bee features six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learning that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser."
Spelling Bee stars Mo Rocca ("The Daily Show," "The Tonight Show," Grease tour), Jennifer Simard (Dr. Sex, The Thing About Men, Forbidden Broadway) as Rona Lisa Piretti, Aaron J. Albano (Wicked national tour) as Chip Tolentino, Stanley Bahorek (Big River national tour) as Leaf Coneybear, Jenni Barber (Henry and Mudge) as Olive Ostrovsky, Sara Inbar (Mamma Mia!, Lizzie Borden) as Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre, Greta Lee (No Boundaries at NYMF) as Marcy Park, James Monroe Iglehart (Show Boat national tour) as Mitch Mahoney, and Jared Gertner (My Favorite Year) as William Barfee.
