Tricia Walsh-Smith, author of the British play "Bonkers," wrote Addictions after her youngest brother Kevin took his own life in October 2000. Tricia and her family realized that the tragic event was the result of his longtime addiction to alcohol, and it is her hope that this play might help other suffering addicts.
The Caron Foundation is consistently listed among the top five addiction providers in the United States, and offers a full range of services that include early intervention and assessment, residential treatment and outpatient counseling and aftercare. A not-for-profit organization founded over 45 years ago, Caron treats nearly 5,000 individuals and families annually. The proceeds raised by the reading of Addictions will go into the Kevin Walsh Scholarship Fund, which will provide rehabilitation treatment for those who cannot afford it.
Veteran actor Chris Sarandon made his movie debut as Al Pacino's lover in "Dog Day Afternoon," for which he received an Oscar nomination. Subsequent films include "Fright Night," "The Princess Bride," "Just Cause," "The Sentinel," "The Nightmare Before Christmas," and "The Osterman Weekend." On Broadway, he starred in "The Rothschilds," "Two Gentleman of Verona," "Nick & Nora," and the current hit musical "The Light in the Piazza."
Trudie Styler has appeared in numerous films including "Bug," "Fair Game," and "Me Without You," and on television in "Friends," "Empire," "Midsomer Murders," and "Miss Marple Mysteries." She has also produced several films including "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints" starring Robert Downey Jr. Trudie has been married to Sting since 1992.
Emily Bergl has been seen on Broadway in "A Touch of the Poet," "The Rivals" and "The Lion in Winter," and Off-Broadway in "Fiction," "Where Do We Live" and "Old Money." Film credits include "Fur" (upcoming), "Chasing Sleep," "Happy Campers," and "The Rage: Carrie 2." Her numerous TV appearance include "Steven Spielberg Presents Taken," "CSI: Miami," "Gilmore Girls," "NYPD Blue," "Star Trek: Enterprise," "ER," and "Wild Thornberries."
