Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (David Van Asselt, Artistic Director; Sandra Coudert, Managing Director) presents the New York premiere of a provocative new play by Christopher Denham (star of Red Light Winter), directed by Adam Rapp (Red Light Winter, "Winter Passing").
In cagelove, Sam¹s fiancée Katie has been raped by a former lover. Or has she? With a wedding date looming, Sam fights to save their now fragile relationship, even while undertaking a desperate search to uncover Katie¹s secret past. Whispers become certainty, certainty becomes obsession and Sam must decide: How far is too far for love? The cast includes: Daniel Eric Gold (The Paris Letter, Small Tragedy), Gillian Jacobs ("Blackbird," the upcoming Adam Rapp film) and Emily Cass McDonnell (Indoor/Outdoor, Aunt Dan and Lemon). cagelove begins performances at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (224 Waverly Place, west of 7th Avenue between West 11th & Perry Streets), Wednesday evening, May 10th at 8:00PM and will continue through Sunday afternoon, June 18th. There is a special added preview on Saturday, May 13th at 3PM. OPENING NIGHT IS MONDAY EVENING, MAY 15th AT 7:00PM. The performance schedule is Monday through Saturday evenings at 8:00PM and Sunday afternoons at 3:00PM. There are no Tuesday performances. Gillian Jacobs (Katie) is a recent graduate of The Juilliard School. Credits include a recurring role in the NBC television series "The Book of Daniel," and a pilot for ABC. She plays the female lead in Adam Rapp¹s upcoming film "Blackbird."

Christopher Denham (Playwright) Plays include: In Film, Haven, Haven: Part Two, Mutilation, Stranger Danger. Workshops/readings: Second Stage, Playwrights Horizons, New York Stage and Film. He is the author of three horror novels, THE BELLRINGERS, AT THE SPIKE, and BREAKBONE FEVER. His fiction has appeared in The Oyster Boy Review, Nuvein, Flesh and Blood and Samsara. He is currently adapting the novel, KING RAT, by China Mieville for director, Joseph Hahn. He is the recipient of the 2003 Ovid Grant For New Writing, adjudicated by Jon Robin Baitz and Michael Morris. He has also been commissioned by The Huntington Theater in Boston. As a director, his short film, The Skin, premiered at the Chicago Horror Film Festival. In the fall, Christopher will write and direct the independent horror film, Home Movie, for Moderncine Films. He can now be seen in Adam Rapp¹s play Red Light Winter at the Barrow Street Theatre.
Adam Rapp (Director) is the author of many plays. Off-Broadway productions include Nocturne (New York Theater Workshop), Faster (Rattlestick), Trueblinka (the Maverick Theater), Stone Cold Dead Serious (Edge Theater), Blackbird (Edge Theater), and Finer Noble Gases (Rattlestick). His first feature film, Winter Passing, starring Ed Harris, Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel, which he wrote and directed, opened in New York and Los Angeles on February 17th. He recently wrapped his second film, Blackbird, which he adapted from his play. He is also the author of seven novels. Most recently, Under the Wolf, Under the Dog (Candlewick Press), was short-listed for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Recent directing credits the Off-Broadway premiere of his play Blackbird, which was nominated for two Drama Desk awards, and the world premiere of Red Light Winter, which won Chicago's Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Work. A graduate of Clarke College in Dubuque, IA, Rapp also completed a two-year playwriting fellowship at Juilliard. He lives in New York City where he is the resident playwright for Edge Theater Company and plays in the band Less (lesstheband.com). He was born in Chicago and raised in Joliet, Illinois.
