The Living Room for Artists Inc / Summer Play Festival (SPF) and The Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre, and Broadcasting (MOFTB) will present its third panel -- examining how the casting process works and what actors need to know about that process -- on October 21.

Titled "Actors and the Casting Process", the panel is designed for actors and aspiring actors. The panel will be moderated by Katherine Oliver, Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting. Panelists are Broadway and off-Broadway casting professionals, including Tara Rubin (Tara Rubin Casting), Kevin Kennison (Summer Play Festival), Rebecca Atwood (Calleri Casting) and Alan Filderman (Alan Filderman Casting).

The free panel will take place at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row, at 410 West 42nd Street (between 9th and 10th Avenues) on October 21 from 10:00am-11:30am.  Guests should RSVP to message@film.nyc.gov by October 18.

This panel is the third in a series of four addressing careers in theatre management, theatrical production and support, and acting. The first two panels in the series examined "Careers in Theatre Management," and "Careers Backstage."

"New York City is the proud home of the finest talent pool in the world," Katherine Oliver, Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting said. "Producers choose to work in New York because of our rich and talented acting community, including crossover actors who work in both theatre and film and television. This panel will address how to break into this community, which contributes so greatly to our local culture and economy."

Under founder Arielle Tepper Madover (a producer of Broadway's Monty Python's Spamalot, The Pillowman, A Raisin in The Sun, and Freak), the non-profit organization The Living Room for Artists Inc./Summer Play Festival provides emerging writers, directors, designers and producers an opportunity to work on their material and their craft in a protected environment, guided by established professionals at no cost to them. The festival takes place throughout the month of July at Theatre Row on 42nd Street. Tickets to all SPF shows are $10 each.
