The equity-professional Actors Shakespeare Company will offer a staged reading of the popular medieval holiday play The Second Shepherd's Play on Thursday, December 13 at 7pm at the Episcopal Actors Guild.

Under the direction of Jennifer America, the cast will include long-time Actors Shakespeare Company members: Lynn Battaglia, Cindy Boyle, Michael Hajek, Timur Kocak, Maren Sugarman, Paul Sugarman and musical accompaniment by Anthony Bez.

Part of the Wakefield Cycle, a series of medieval Biblical plays, The Second Shepherd's Play is a fictitious telling of the comedic adventures of the shepherds, prior to visiting the infant Christ in Bethlehem.

"Long before Monty Python's Life of Brian, there was The Second Shepherd's Play," says ASC artistic director James Rana. "I am thrilled that we can share this much beloved comedy for the holiday season."

The Episcopal Actors Guild is located at 1 E. 29th Street in NYC. For further information, visit the Actors Shakespeare Company website at ascnj.org.
