In The Heights won the 2008 Tony Award for Best Original Musical.
In The Heights began previews on Thursday, February 14, 2008, and opened Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 West 46th Street). The musical stars Andréa Burns, Janet Dacal, Robin De Jesús, Carlos Gomez, Mandy Gonzalez, Christopher Jackson, Priscilla Lopez, Olga Merediz, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Karen Olivo and Seth Stewart will be on hand for the CD signing. The original cast recording of In The Heights is released on Ghostlight Records.
With music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegria Hudes, In The Heights is directed by Thomas Kail and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler. Alex Lacamoire is music director and music arrangements are by Alex Lacamoire and Bill Sherman.

In The Heights "is a quintessential New York musical about a vibrant and tight-knit community at the top of the island of Manhattan. The music pulses with the hopes and dreams of three generations as they struggle to forge an identity in a neighborhood on the brink of transition," state press notes.
The show played a successful Off-Broadway run at 37 Arts on Sunday, July 15, 2007, having played 33 preview and 182 regular performances.
