On Monday, September 18th, Tony Award-winner Christine Ebersole, soon to open on Broadway in Grey Gardens, will take to the stage with a wild one-night extravaganza produced for The Actors' Fund of America.
"Basically, we're going to Woodstock," said Ebersole, who is planning to perform songs from the likes of Joni Mitchell, the Dixie Chicks, Bob Dylan, Michael McDonald and the Eagles. "It's not business as usual in terms of the treasure trove of jazzy tunes that normally people associate with me. This is really going back to a time in my life when I felt that as an American citizen that I had a voice and that our society had a voice, that together we could make a difference."
The evening will feature a nine-piece band, back up singers , as well as an appearance by
Grey Gardens co-star
Bob Stillman and a pre-concert "Edie Beale Fashion Extravaganza."
The Band features musical director Bette Sussman – fresh from Bette Midler'
s Kiss My Brass tour –and Jay Braynford on saxophone, Dion Tucker on trombone, Clint Degannon on drums, Zev Katz on bass, Larry Saltzman on guitar,
Cliff Carter on the synthesizer, Bill Moloney on percussion,
Elaine Caswell on vocals and guitar, Catherine Russell on vocals, mandolin and guitar, and Eddie Allen on trumpet.
