Aspiring musicians performed alongside the renowned Carnegie Hall's Ensemble ACJW in 'Young Artists' Day' at the Abu Dhabi Theatre on Saturday evening, marking the culmination of the Carnegie Hall Music Residency in Abu Dhabi as part of the Abu Dhabi Festival. Also on the night, Founder and Artistic Director of the Abu Dhabi Festival, Mrs. Hoda I Al Khamis Kanoo was presented with an award in gratitude and appreciation for her cultural leadership of the CUNY Creative Arts Team – UAE University Educational Theatre Partnership by the City University of New York.
Committed to inspiring children and young people across the UAE to broaden their horizons and realise their talents, The Young Artists' Day is an annual highlight of the Abu Dhabi Festival and a key component of its Education Programme.
The Abu Dhabi Festival, one of the UAE's premier arts events, this year reaches its ninth edition, with its largest and most ambitious programme to date, featuring celebrated artists in new commissions and Arab World Premieres.
Aside from Carnegie Hall's Ensemble ACJW as one of several international strategic partnerships with leading institutions to foster a new performing arts landscape in the Gulf, the Festival is collaborating with The Met in HD to host the screening of Wagner's Ring Cycle, starring Bryn Terfel (Wotan), Deborah Voigt (Brünnhilde) and Jonas Kaufmann (Siegmund). Other highlights include nine-time GRAMMY award winning singer, songwriter and performer Natalie Cole making her Middle East debut, with an evening entitled 'Natalie Cole in Concert'.
