Playwright Annie Baker sat down with "WTF with Marc Maron" earlier this month to discuss all things theater.
Annie Baker is one of the most original and exciting voices in American theater. She is already a Pulitzer Prize winner and talks to Marc Maron about how she accounts super-producer Scott Rudin as one of her most ardent supporters.
Annie Baker's currently play The Flick is currently turning heads Off-Broadway. The Flick tells the story of a run-down movie theater in central Massachusetts where three underpaid employees mop the floors and attend to one of the last 35-millimeter film projectors in the state. Their tiny battles and not-so-tiny heartbreaks play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the lackluster, second-run movies on screen. With keen insight and a finely-tuned comic eye, The Flick is a hilarious and heart-rending cry for authenticity in a fast-changing world.
The podcast, which can be found HERE, is part of Maron's sixth season of "WTF with Marc Maron." Baker chats about her past relationships, being friends with past boyfriends, charging for tickets, Broadway and so much more.
Maron's podcasts have featured people like Robin Williams, Louis C.K., Jason Segel, Vince Gilligan, Jim Gaffigan and many others. His biggest podcast happened in June 2015 when he interviewed President Barack Obama.
Marc Maron is stand-up comedian, podcast host, writer, director, producer and actor. He is known for his work hosting The Marc Maron Show and co-hosting both Morning Sedition and Breakroom Live. He has also hosted Comedy Central's Short Attention Span Theater. WTF with Marc Maron started in 2009 and is a twice-weekly podcast where he interviews comedians and celebrities.
