Preview performances of Tom Stoppard's ARCADIA, directed by David Leveaux, will begin tonight: Saturday, February 26 at 8PM at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street) on Broadway. The play had previously announced a first performance a day earlier, Friday, February 25. The official opening remains unchanged on Thursday, March 17.
The reason for the change is to afford an additional day in the rehearsal room. Rehearsals began several days late following an issue with UK visa processing for some of the cast and this has been compounded by the extraordinary weather conditions in the North East which have cut into rehearsal hours.Tom Stoppard's ARCADIA will return to New York this spring for a limited engagement in an acclaimed new production, directed by five-time Tony Award nominee David Leveaux. ARCADIA arrives on Broadway from the West End where this production became an instant sold out hit in 2009 and was deemed "Stoppard's most brilliant play" (The Observer), "one of the most exquisite plays of the 20th century" (The Independent), and "sexy, sophisticated, and killingly funny." (The Evening Standard).
