A WALK IN THE WOODS Highlights Nature Photography at bergenPAC, Beginning Today

Bergen Performing Arts Center located at 30 North Van Brunt Street in Englewood, New Jersey presents A Walk in the Woods. The photographic exhibit "A Walk in the Woods," is a celebration of the natural world and is an effort to showcase the beauty of Flat Rock Brook Nature Center located in Englewood, New Jersey.

The Exhibition is in residence at The Intermezzo Gallery on the 2nd floor of the bergenPAC from today, March 5, through March 26, 2016. The gallery is open to the general public during box office hours Mon-Fri 11AM - 4PM and Saturday 12PM to 4PM.

The exhibit has been displayed at many public venues across New Jersey and conveys the beauty of Flat Rock Brook through dozens of framed images with the aim of promoting environmental education in New Jersey.

The exhibit consists of landscape photography that showcases the experience of hiking in the forest, by the brook, and on trails at the nature center. The exhibit is the work of photographer Realf Schermer and presents Flat Rock Brook during the four seasons of the year.

"This photography exhibit is a celebration of nature and the success Flat Rock Brook's mission of environmental education," said Schermer. "When we respect nature and teach our children to cherish the environment, this has a ripple effect in our community, the benefits of which are priceless and will last for generations."

Flat Rock Brook Nature Center is a 150-acre preserve and education center situated on the western slope of the Palisades in Englewood, New Jersey. Flat Rock Brook was established in 1973 by citizens who were deeply committed to land conservation, preservation, and environmental education.

The mission of Flat Rock Brook is to maintain and preserve the lands under its supervision as a sanctuary for plant and animal life in our urban area and as a natural environment available to the public for trail walks, nature study and other passive recreation. Flat Rock Brook trails and picnic area are open free to the public every day from dawn to dusk.

Realf Schermer serves as communications director to New Jersey Assemblyman Gordon M. Johnson (D-Bergen). He is a volunteer and former trustee of Flat Rock Brook Nature Association in Englewood, New Jersey. Mr. Schermer is an avid photographer, who has been recognized for his work. Realf Schermer is a life-long resident of Englewood, NJ and is a proud father of two young children.

Founded in 2003, the 1,367-seat Bergen Performing Arts Center, or bergenPAC, is the area's cultural mecca.
