A SOULFUL CHRISTMAS Adds Performance To Run This Weekend

AnthonyKen LLC (Anthony Wayne and Kendrell Bowman, Producers) announces that an additional performance has been added to the premiere of A SOULFUL CHRISTMAS, a new musical revue which will be performed for this weekend only Off-Broadway at The Actor's Temple Theatre (339 West 47th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues). A SOULFUL CHRISTMAS will now be performed on Saturday, December 16th at 8:00 PM, Sunday, December 17th at 2:00 PM (show added due to popular demand) and Sunday, December 17th at 7:00 PM.

A SOULFUL CHRISTMAS reunites the creative team behind the hit musicals Mighty Real: A Fabulous Sylvester Musical and An Evening With Phyllis Hyman. A SOULFUL CHRISTMAS is written by Kendrell Bowman and Anthony Wayne and directed by Mr. Bowman. The Music Director is Alonzo Harris, and vocal director is Jacqueline B. Arnold.

The perfect gift for the lovers of classic Gospel, R&B and Soul, A SOULFUL CHRISTMAS transports the audience back to the Disco Era, to a taping of a special holiday-themed episode of the fictional music-dance television program "Groovy Wonderland" (inspired by the hit show "Soul Train"). A SOULFUL CHRISTMAS features favorite songs from beloved groups such as The Temptations, The Supremes and The Jackson 5. The whole family should come ready to listen to - and sing along with - soul-stirring traditional songs sung with a twist, and bust a move in the Wonderland Dance Line ... After all, the holidays are the perfect time to get down!

The cast for A SOULFUL CHRISTMAS features Anthony Wayne (Mighty Real ..., Pippin, Anything Goes, Priscilla ...), and Jehrime Chadwick, Toure Coffey, Enga Davis (An Evening with Phyllis Hyman), Brian Davis, Vincent Hale, Wanjiru " Shiro" Kihagi, Lady Pepper, Missa Thompson, Nathan Tolliver and Burgandy Williams.

The band features music director Alonzo Harris on keyboards, Davy Levitan on guitar, Ian Jesse on bass, Whisper on drums, and James Cage on trumpet.

A SOULFUL CHRISTMAS features choreography by Hollie Wright.

MIGHTY REAL is the acclaimed musical celebration of the life and music of the original 1970s "Queen of Disco," starring Anthony Wayne (Pippin, Anything Goes, Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as Sylvester, Jacqueline B. Arnold (An Evening With Phyllis Hyman, Priscilla Queen of the Desert) as Martha Wash, and Anastacia McCleskey (Waitress, Violet, Book of Mormon, Priscilla ...) as Izora Armstead. Previously known as Fabulous, One More Time, the musical began a series of concerts at le poisson rouge in New York City in 2012. These early concerts were followed by sold-out performances at The Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C. in January 2013, and additional performances in Miami soon followed. MIGHTY REAL: A FABULOUS SYLVESTER MUSICAL made its Off-Broadway premiere in an acclaimed one-month limited engagement in September 2014. AN EVENING WITH Phyllis Hyman is a reimagining of the legendary R&B singer's final performance in Philadelphia, the night before her scheduled Apollo performance on the day she took her life. Jacqueline B. Arnold stars as Ms. Hyman. This musical debuted Off-Broadway in January 2017.
