Press notes describe
A Kiss from Alexander as "a musical within a musical. It's the East Village where attractive director Nick Matthews is staging
Alexander Was Great! an over-the-top gay musical that portrays the ancient Macedonian world conqueror as a royal party animal. Alexander himself - now a deity - is restored to mortal life as a beautiful and gifted actor, sent to Earth to foil Nick's blasphemous show. Alex (Alexander) almost succeeds, until he discovers that Nick is the reincarnation of his great love, Haephestion, thereby sending what was a campy, backstage musical into a romantic tailspin. Their immortal love blazes anew and the plot takes a whole new twist."
A Kiss from Alexander stars Jeremiah James as Nick Matthews;
Jamison Stern as Augie De Beers;
Eddie Rabon as Craig; Justin Wilcox as Frank; Charles Logan as Cary;
Gavin Esham as Brad Berenson; Justin Wilcox as Guardian; Craig Ramsey as Alexander the Great; Brendt Reil as David, Matthew Marks as Tony, and "Knuckles" Simmons as Pianist. The show's creative team includes David Toser (costumes) and
Michael Hotopp (sets).
