Playwright Kal Mansoor's new solo-show, A Brief History of Colonization, will play at Emerging Artists Theatre's New Work Series for one performance on Friday March 16 at 7:00 pm at TADA Theatre.
A Brief History of Colonization recently had a successful workshop performance at Dixon Place. Mansoor whose credits include Nickelodeon's iCarly, the Warner Bros animated feature Happy Feet 2, and last year's hit play, Haram! Iran!, also performs the show. Janice Yang (Producer of Ephrat Asherie's A Single Ride/ Dixon Place) serves as a co-producer with Mansoor.
A Brief History of Colonization is a one-man comedy show taking you on an abbreviated journey through India's colonial history. Starting with the Portuguese Empire in 1498, we'll meet the first European explorer to reach India, Vasco De Gama, who will be played by Matthew McConaughey. Onward we go through the 17th and 18th centuries where we see a glimpse of the Danish Empire, led by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, and ending with the British Raj in 1947 with a cameo appearance by Kevin Spacey (because he needs the work). The show will leave you educated and horrified all at once.
The performance takes place at TADA Theatre, 15 West 28th Street (between Broadway and 5th Avenue). Subways: N/R/6 to 28th street, F/M to 23rd street. Tickets are $15 and are available at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3336446 - Running time: 60 minutes.
