'9 to 5' Delays L.A. Previews Until 9/6

  The first preview for "9 to 5: The Musical" will now take place on Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 8 p.m. at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre. Audiences for the previously-announced previews on September 3, 4 and 5 will be moved to other performances. This change is being made to meet the technical demands of this world premiere musical.

"This is not only one of the biggest, but also one of the best and most spectacular productions we have ever presented at the Ahmanson," said CTG Artistic Director Michael Ritchie, "but the technical demands are enormous and we must afford the creative team and cast the time to develop the show to the level of quality that it, and our audiences, deserve."

"Oh, what's two to three more days on a project that we've worked two to three years on?" said seven-time Grammy Award-winner Dolly Parton, who has written the music and lyrics for the musical. "The sets and the technical end of things are more involved on this musical than they were on the movie! And it's going to look fantastic."

Previews for "9 to 5: The Musical" are now scheduled for September 6 through 19.  The opening date of September 20 is unchanged and performances will continue through October 19, 2008.

"9 to 5:  The Musical" has a book by Patricia Resnick and choreography by Tony Award-winner Andy Blankenbuehler.  Two-time Tony Award-winner Joe Mantello is the director.

Multiple Emmy Award-winner and Tony Award-nominee Allison Janney stars as Violet Newstead, the super efficient office manager who joins her co-workers - the frazzled divorcee Judy Bernly, played by Stephanie J. Block, and the sexy executive secretary Doralee Rhodes, played by Megan Hilty, to turn the tables on their boss, the "sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical, bigot" Franklin Hart, Jr., played by two-time Tony Award nominee Marc Kudisch.
