Broadwayworld has joined with the cast of Rain- A Beatles Tribute for our new "8 Days A Week" feature. Each day for eight days Joe Bithorn, Joey Curatolo, Steve Landes, and Ralph Castelli of Rain will answer one question about what The Beatles mean to them.
Day Seven: How does this Beatles show compare to others that you have been involved in or seen?
Joe Bithorn (George)
I worked with a touring company of Beatlemania and the thing about comparing that to this is working with the other cast members I now have the privilege to work with. This is truly an all star cast of fantastic singer/musician/performers and I'm proud to share the stage with them every night i have the opportunity to do so.
Joey Curatolo (Paul)
Other than ours being the first, longest running and most successful, I believe it has to do with the talent and the brotherhood within the band.
Steve Landes (John)
One thing I'm very happy about with our show is that it is about The Beatles, their story, how they affected the world, how the times affected them, and vise versa. Through the multi-media, and set and costume changes, we show all of that. We were all a part of the show "Beatlemania" years ago, and, besides the band playing The Beatles' songs, it really wasn't much about them. All of the video and slides shown on screen referred to the Sixties in general, with no real reference to The Beatles and what was going on with them.
Ralph Castelli (Ringo)
We are extraordinarily blessed to have the seal of approval from Sony/ATV Music Publishing which controls the rights to The Beatles music. Marty Bandier and his team have been extremely supportive of what we do and how we do it. We are so lucky!
RAIN performs the full range of The Beatles' discography live onstage, including the most complex and challenging songs that The Beatles themselves recorded in the studio but never performed for an audience. From the early days of their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 through Sgt. Pepper and on to the Abbey Road years, RAIN performs it all. The multi-media concert recaptures the era through all phases of The Beatles astounding musical career including Shea Stadium, the psychedelic late 60s and the long-haired hippie, hard-rocking rooftop days. A fusion of historical footage and hilarious television commercials lights up video screens and live cameras zoom in for close-ups.
RAIN is currently performing to packed houses at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre, 250 W. 52 Street now through January 9th. For tickets go to www.ticketmaster.com or call 877-250-2929.
