Broadwayworld has joined with the cast of Rain- A Beatles Tribute for our new "8 Days A Week" feature. Each day for eight days Joe Bithorn, Joey Curatolo, Steve Landes, and Ralph Castelli of Rain will answer one question about what The Beatles mean to them.
What is Day Five- Do you have a favorite Beatles song?
Joe Bithorn (George)
It's a very hard thing for me to pick just one song. Their entire body of work is my favorite!!
Joey Curatolo (Paul)
It's very difficult to pick a favorite Beatles song. It's like asking a parent to choose a favorite child.
Steve Landes (John)
Ooh, now that's a tough one. How do you pick that?? There's seriously not a song in their catalog that isn't the best music ever. But seeing as I love the early era, I'd probably pick something from then, like "She Loves You", or "Thank You Girl", or "There's A Place".
Ralph Castelli (Ringo)
It's so hard to pick a favorite...I love them all!
Although The Beatles were only together for ten years, they were able to produce an extensive song catalogue. Four decades after their break-up their music continues to be popular, sparking the release of their Mono and Stereo box sets within the last few years. According to RIAA certifications, they have sold more albums in the United States than any other artist. They have been honored with 7 Grammy Awards, and they have received 15 Ivor Novello Awards from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. The Beatles were collectively included in Time magazine's compilation of the 20th century's 100 most influential people. Many of their biggest songs have been chosen for covers by other musicians, including:
"Helter Skelter" covered by Aerosmith, Motley Crue and Pat Benatar
"Here Comes The Sun" covered by Richie Havens, Yo-yo Ma and James Taylor
"Ticket To Ride"covered by Karen Carpenter
"A Little Help From My Friends" covered by Joe Cocker
