61st Annual Tony Awards Receive Prime Time Emmy Nod

The June 2007 broadcast of the 61st Annual Tony Awards was honored today with a Prime Time Emmy Award nomination in the Outstanding Special Class-- Awards Programs category.  The nominations were announced live this morning from the Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood by actors Kristen Chenoweth and Neil Patrick Harris

White Cherry Entertainment, in association with Tony Award Productions, received the nomination, marking their third nomination. Executive Producers Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss of White Cherry Entertainment won the Emmy Award in the same category last year for the 60th Annual Tony Awards, and also won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special in 2005 for the 58th Annual Tony Awards.  Kirshner and Weiss have acted as executive producers of the Tony Awards telecast for the past five years.  The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

The Tonys are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. At The Broadway League, Nina Lannan is Chairman and Charlotte St. Martin is Executive Director. At the American Theatre Wing, Theodore S. Chapin is Chairman and Howard Sherman is Executive Director. For Tony Award Productions, Elizabeth I. McCann is Managing Producer and Joey Parnes is Coordinating Producer.

Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss/White Cherry Entertainment were Executive Producers of the 2008 Tony Awards.  Mr. Weiss also served as Director of the 2008 Tony Awards.
