The Fresh Fruit Festival, a multi-genre international festival of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender arts, is now accepting submissions for their July 2007 festival. Applications are due by mid-February.

The Fresh Fruit Festival, "Welcomes all artists and all performers: Film and theater, poetry, dance, graphic arts, baton twirling, cabaret, orchestral music, folk, hip hop, spoken word, drag, drawing room comedies, comedians and video artists. If it's art and it reflects any aspect of the LGBT community and its culture, you are welcome to submit."

Last year's festival featured the movie Queer Duck, a gallery showing at the Leslie/Lohman Gallery, and an evening of Native American culture and dance performances by noted transgender choreographer/dancer Sean Dorsey.

The Festival has thus far featured performers from almost every group within the LGBT community as well as artists from Africa, the Phillippines, Japan, the Caribbean and Israel.

A $35 submission fee is required. The fee makes you a member of the Fresh Fruit family of artists, which comes with a variety of benefits.
