59E59's Brits Off Bdwy Fest Postponed For Americas Off Bdwy

59E59 Theaters (Elysabeth Kleinhans, Artistic Director; Peter Tear, Executive Producer) announces that the 6th annual Brits Off Broadway festival will move to Fall 2009 to make room for a new festival, Americas Off Broadway, celebrating new plays from theaters across the United States.

"After the success of GoChicago! as well as the tremendous response to Secret Order (from Merrimack Rep in Fall 2007), we were interested in looking at productions from American regional theaters that spoke to the various facets of the ‘American experience,'" explains Elysabeth Kleinhans. "We are very excited to have found a number of productions that examine and uphold the absolute diversity of that term."

"We like to shake things up a bit here, and after five years in the Spring, we felt like Brits was getting a little predictable," laughs Executive Producer Peter Tear. "Moving Brits to the Fall allows us to bring in productions that are slightly more festive for the Holiday season, for example. Some shows just feel like Fall shows."

The 6th annual Brits Off Broadway festival will now take place in Fall 2009. Americas Off Broadway will launch in May. Shows and schedules for Americas Off Broadway will be announced in a separate release.
