An autographed Martin D-28 guitar with signatures from more than 20 musical artists and groups will be auctioned at the Cancer Support Community's Spring Celebration gala in New York City on April 14 to raise funds to support the nonprofit's many programs for individuals and families impacted by cancer.
In January, the Cancer Support Community, in partnership with healtheo360 and Ogilvy CommonHealth Worldwide, launched #4Chords4Cancer, a celebrity campaign to raise awareness of the free supportive resources available for people impacted by cancer.
The Cancer Support Community sent the #4Chords4Cancer guitar, courtesy of Martin Guitar, on a tour around the United States to be played, signed and photographed with musical artists, including Sara Bareilles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Peter Yarrow of "Peter, Paul and Mary," Jorma Kaukonen of "Jefferson Airplane," Peter Frampton, cast members from ABC's hit show "Nashville," and cast members from Andrew Lloyd Webber's SCHOOL OF ROCK.
Photos and videos of the guitar's travels are published on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram under the hashtag #4Chords4Cancer.
"We are thrilled at how members of the music industry have embraced the Cancer Support Community and the #4Chords4Cancer campaign over the past few months, and we are excited for the final piece of the project, the upcoming auction of the guitar. Our hope is that by raising awareness and funds through this campaign, more people will find vital support during their cancer experience," said Linda House, president of the Cancer Support Community.
Bidding for the autographed guitar will begin at $1,000.
