ALL FALL DOWN
By Selda Nia
It is August 17th and we are knee deep in NYMF. Well, really neck deep in NYMF, and we have half a cast. Well, maybe a quarter of cast, but hopefully half. We'll know later today. We have raised 10 percent of our budget. Well, maybe 8 percent. Let me check the couch cushions and our coat pockets.
We began writing ALL FALL DOWN in the fall of 2007 over margaritas at BlockHeads (it was actually margaritas at New World Grill, but that's gone and we're creating our own mythology now.) I don't know where time went. Here we are, in the hot, gross New York City summer, with an amazing director, an amazing (half) cast and a show going up at 45th Street Theatre.
To take you back a little bit, we used to write country songs with Greg's words and Selda's music. We played in trashy little bars to enthusiastic drunks. We had a good time. In fact, Selda once put a song on Myspace and Greg emailed her saying how he had forgotten writing it, but how, of course, no once else could have written it because it was so distinctly him. Selda then told him that she wrote it alone. We realized we should clearly be writing together.Videos
