R.R.R.E.D. --- A Secret Musical

"The Redheaded Revolution Begins!" ( and "An Envious Addendum")
By Katie Thompson, book, music, and lyrics (and Andy Sandberg, director)

It was a birthday present.

My best friend Adam Jackman called me on my birthday and "gave" me the idea for what is now R.R.R.E.D: A Secret Musical. I don't know why it was so easy to write the first ten songs of this musical. It might be that the red in my hair was finally allowed to speak and sing in a way it has always wanted to.

Or... it might be the titles he sent me for inspiration: "What Good's a
Blonde, Anyway?," "As Long as It's Red," and my personal favorite:
"Procreation, Procreation, PROCREATION!"

He was jealous.

My other best friend Patrick Livingston found out about our co-conspiracy and would not allow us to continue without him. And we're so glad. Patrick and I would improv Adam's plot points at any tiny theater, cabaret, or dirty curb that would have us. And MAN we thought we were so funny.

But now? Now we knows we are HILARIOUS.

Speaking as a non-redhead, I just have to say that Katie Thompson could make anyone jealous of the redheaded species. Are they a species... or a race? Or a religion? It's more significant than a club. Perhaps they're more of a cult. Whatever the proper terminology, Katie Thompson and her co-conspirators Adam Jackman and Patrick Livingston make you want ‘in'.

I had heard about these three clowns... I mean writers... on my last visit to L.A.
Friends kept telling me about this show that was in development out there and these three hilarious writers. Though I did not get a chance to see R.R.R.E.D. while I was out in California, I am so glad that it was brought to my attention again here in New York.

I would tell you more, but it's a Secret Musical. You_ll have to come check it out for yourselves.

Come see R.R.R.E.D. in the New York Musical Theatre Festival!
