For another consecutive year, June offers to contemporary dance friends the opportunity to enjoy interesting performances from many countries, presenting to the public of Cyprus the trends, creations and currents of contemporary dance, while setting bridges with the world choreographic creation.
The theme variety, and especially the diversity in dance trends, characterize this year's festival, which includes seven performances that touch neoclassical dance and reach the most minimal performances.
This year's festival includes, beyond Cyprus, six countries with a tradition in contemporary dance, which feature works by important choreographers such as Chris Haring and Itamar Serussi Sahar representing Italy, Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Pollak from Israel, Joost Vrouenraets from The Netherlands, Marie-Claude Pietragalla and Julien Derouault from France and Christos Papadopoulos, one of the most important and rising Greek choreographers.
Six performances will take place at the Rialto Theater in Limassol, while in Nicosia within the framework of the Festival, the Cypriot performances NLE (Near Life Experience) and Whispers, choreographed by Lia Haraki and Fouli Stylianidou respectively, will be presented at Pallas Theatre. Both dance pieces were selected at the Cyprus Contemporary Dance Platform 2018 to represent Cyprus in this year's edition.
For the first time this year, the Festival introduces a performance for children 3 years over by Mafalda dance company from Switzerland, directed by the choreographer Teresa Rotemberg. A workshop by the company will take place on June 29th @ Dance House Lemesos at 15:00. The workshop is suitable for children 4 -12 years old.
The Cyprus Contemporary Dance Festival has been awarded with the Effe Label 2017 - 2018.
