2019 Brooklyn College MFA Playwright Readings Come to The Tank

The 2019 MFA Playwriting students at Brooklyn College - Tanya Everett, Eri Nox, Arika Larson and Cherry Lou Sy - will be presenting readings of their full-length plays. All shows will be at The Tank on Wednesdays and Fridays at 3 pm.

In a world where nothing is wasted, what does it mean to extend your life? A scientist, William knows that he is dying, so he donates his body to science to make the most out of his body's time on earth. His body becomes the repository to house the consciousness of another scientist from another century.

Arika Larson is a playwright from Kansas currently studying at Brooklyn College with Erin Courtney and Mac Wellman.

Tanya Everett hails from Mass, bred in Brooklyn, to pursue her career as an actor and writer. Her plays have been performed in many Off and Off-off Broadway venues: including Cherry Lane, HERE Arts Center, TheaterLab, Kraine, Cherry Pit. Her play "A Slow Boil: Parts 1, 2,3" was recently performed as part of the 8th Season of the Fire This Time Festival. She was chosen for the 2016-17 Wright Club, a playwright development wing of the critically acclaimed, Amoralists. Other plays include: T(w)o Train: To Be In Transit(ion), We Were Never Meant To Survive, Doesn't Matter How You Say It, Got A Light," "Lady of the Lake, Virgin Christmas. She has written several screenplays and produced her short, Without Scars, which you can find on Amazon! As an actor, she has worked with notable directors including Russell G. Jones, Carl Cofield, Charles Weldon, and Oscar nominee Josh Fox. She recently wrapped the indie film, "Karma Club," featuring Tony winner Chuck Cooper. She received a rave in the NY Times for her gender-bending performance as Antonia, opposite Ron Cephas Jones in Classical Theater of Harlem's Tempest. When she is neither acting nor writing, Tanya enjoys homemade food, live performances, working with youth, cuddling and communing with artistic spirits!

Cherry Lou Sy is a MFA Playwriting candidate at Brooklyn College. Her work has been developed/presented in La Mama Experiments, Rising Circle Theater Collective, The Letter of Marque, Brooklyn College, Primary Stages' ESPA, The Wild Project, The Brick, the Classical Theatre of Harlem and The Tank. She was a finalist for the 2018 Space on Ryder Farm Working Farm and the 2017 Bay Area Playwrights Festival and she has also been nominated for the 2018 Cherry Lane Mentor Project. She was also involved in Ping Chong's Undesirable Elements series.

Eri Nox is a playwright and performance artist originally from the San Francisco Bay. Ze is a resident artist at Cloud City in Brooklyn and has or is currently developing work in New York at LaMama ETC, The Public Theater, Dixon Place, and Theater Breaking Through Barriers, and in Edinburgh (FEST Magazine described Nox's electro-dance opera of TS Eliot's 'The Waste Land' as "weirdly compelling"), Paris (Business Lunch Productions), Poland (as guest artist at the Drama Laboratory of Teatr Dramatyczny and the Slowacki Teatr Krakow), and California.
