After years performing all over the world in operas, classical concerts, musicals, and on cruise ships, Dawn Derow began her career as a newbie on the New York cabaret scene in 2007. Staging shows focused on Great American Songbook standards, pop classics, and her own original songs, the Boston Conservatory graduate finally achieved recognition from the cabaret cognoscenti when she won (with Kathleen France) a 2015 MAC Award for "Best Revue" for their duo show Revolution.
But it wasn't until Dawn returned to her opera roots with her 2015-16 show Legit--A Classical Cabaret, and followed that up with her critically acclaimed 2017 show My Ship: Songs From 1941, that she achieved a breakthrough on her own. Legit earned Derow a coveted 2016 Bistro Award as "Outstanding Vocalist," while My Ship enabled her to capture the 2018 MAC Award as "Best Female Vocalist" and a feature profile in the May/June 2018 issue of Cabaret Scenes Magazine. This past summer, Derow returned to her hometown of Cape Cod, MA, as a certified cabaret star, headlining at Cape Cod's Cotuit Center of the Arts with a sold-out performance of My Ship, which was hailed by Cabaret Scenes as a "wonderfully crafted work and a perfect storm of entertainment."
Now this woman who can entertain up a storm will display her great vocal range and outgoing performing personality at New York's Beach Café (1326 2nd Avenue, corner of 70th Street) with THE Dawn Derow BIRTHDAY PARTY SHOW on Saturday, November 24 at 9:30 pm (Dinner seating at 8:00 pm). Directed by Lina Koutrakos and featuring Music Director Mark Janas on piano and Sean Harkness on guitar, Derow's Birthday Party Show will offer an eclectic mix of songs, including favorites from Legit and her 2011-2014 show with Harkness, Music 4 Two. Helping Dawn celebrate her birthday will be special guest vocalists, including multiple award-winning cabaret performer Celia Berk (who was a guest singer in Legit), MAC Award-nominee and concert performer Suzanne Fiore (also a Boston Conservatory graduate), and Jason Reiff, who has starred as "Marius" in the national tour of Les Misérables. Fiore and Reiff will join Derow on songs by Heart, Brandi Carlyle, The Indigo Girls, and Sara Bareilles.
As a special treat for the Beach Café audience, Dawn will also show off her baking skills (she runs a company called Pie Theory by Dawn--www.pietheorybydawn.com) by offering a variety of fruity seasonal pies as her way of saying "Thank You" for helping celebrate her birthday.

Ticket prices: General Bar Seats at $20; VIP Bar Seats (two seats) at $30; 9 pm Beach Table Seats at $25 (with a $25 food or drink minimum); VIP Early Seating at $78; VIP Seating at $98 (closest to the performer).
